It is of common knowledge that epoxy based coatings offer the best anti-corrosion properties for metal.
Nevertheless, these systems are reported to be rather slow curing and do not cure at very low temperature. Coating metallic structures during winter time in cold climate regions is therefore avoided.
Low VOC regulations are coming on stream and will bring additional problems to formulators. Cardolite Phenalkamines can be formulated as very high solids while curing epoxy resins very fast even at low temperatures (below 0 °C).
Anti-corrosive paints based on phenalkamines from Cardolite are currently being used for protective anti-corrosion coatings under the approval of many different quality labels (ISO, DIN, ACCQPA….).
