Cardolite® Friction Products
Cardolite is a leading producer of cashew based materials used in the friction industry.
The company's customer base includes both after market and original equipment
manufacturing companies. This division's product line consists of both liquid
binder resins and
friction particles.
Liquid
Binder Resins
These are thermosetting resins that are used to hold brake linings together. Cashew based
resins are perhaps the best of the modified phenolic types because they offer all of the
desirable characteristics of a straight phenolic (impact resistance, flexibility, thermal
stability) without the oil bleeding. This condition causes a decrease in the coefficient
of friction.
Cardolite offers a wide
range of liquid binder resins, including:

Friction Particles
Cashew based friction particle is used in disc pad brakes and drum linings. Friction
particle (sometimes called friction dust) is used as a stabilizing agent in brake
products. These particles have a resilient nature which cushions the engaging property of
a piece of lining. Also, they decompose on the surface of a lining at various elevated
temperature, controlling the wear, and offer a protective device by prohibiting excessive
temperature from being developed.
Cardolite friction particles
are used in metallic, semi-metallic, asbestos and non asbestos brake products. The variety
of particle products Cardolite produces includes:
